- In 2008 UK’s exports to Taiwan were £836m. Taiwan is the UK’s 43th largest export market.
- UK’s imports from Taiwan were £2.48 bn for 2008. Taiwan is the UK’s 32nd largest supplier of goods.
- The U.K. is Taiwan’s largest investment destination in Europe and has attracted 70% of Taiwanese investment to Europe. 200 Taiwan companies are now located in the UK.
- As of November 2008, U.K. investors have invested in 515 projects in Taiwan, with a total investment amount of US$5.19 billion, making the U.K. the 7th biggest source of foreign investment for Taiwan.
- 76,549 British nationals visited Taiwan in 2008, increased 9.89% from 2007.
- 39,114 Taiwanese travelled to the UK in 2008, increased 2.1% from 2007.
- 15,000 Taiwanese students are studying in the UK. Only 49 Taiwanese went to the UK for studying 20 years ago.
- 7 BTCO scholarships awarded to postgraduate Taiwanese students worth approximately NTD 4 million in 2008/09. 200 scholars have completed their studies in the UK on BTCO scholarship since 1991.
- Two British Consulates were established in Danshui and Kaohsiung in mid-19 century. They are now still in use for exhibitions and cultural events.
- Over 130 British athletic are coming to Kaohsiung this summer to join World Game 2009.
